On 24th April , members of Sudlington Bridge Lodge had the great pleasure of visiting our good friends at the Lodge of Endeavour, No. 5506 (London Freemasons), to witness a truly special evening — a double initiation.
The ties between Sudlington Bridge (Berkshire Freemasons) and the Lodge of Endeavour are close and long-standing. We visit each other’s meetings often, sharing not only friendship but also a common passion for the Craft. Tonight’s visit was yet another shining example of this enduring bond.
Double initiations are always memorable, but this evening was made even more extraordinary by the effort and heart shown by the Brethren of Endeavour. Over 30 visitors filled the lodge, creating a vibrant and electric atmosphere. The Lodge of Endeavour rose magnificently to the occasion, showcasing their outstanding ritual work and even performing additional ritual to make the evening especially meaningful for their new initiates.
What made the night even more poignant was that one of the initiates had the unique honour of being led through the ceremony by his own uncle — a moment of deep family pride and Masonic joy.
After the formal proceedings, Endeavour hosted a lively raffle with amazing prizes, adding to the sense of celebration and camaraderie. It was clear to all present that a tremendous amount of effort and thought had gone into making the evening truly unforgettable.
We at Sudlington Bridge are proud to count the Brethren of the Lodge of Endeavour among our closest friends in Freemasonry, and we look forward to welcoming them back to Berkshire soon. Nights like these remind us that while each lodge has its own traditions and styles, the true spirit of Freemasonry — brotherhood, support, and shared endeavour — shines through wherever we meet.
Until next time

Great to see that visiting plays a huge part in masonry, looking forward to visiting there myself.
