A Summer Evening of Fellowship and Celebration on the Thames

Tuesday, 1st July 2025, will be fondly remembered as one of the hottest and most enjoyable gatherings in recent memory for the Brethren and partners of Sudlington Bridge Lodge. As the sun beat down, marking the warmest Lodge day many of us can recall, we gathered for a truly special partners' night, an evening filled with laughter, good company, and a delightful journey along the historic River Thames.

Given the exceptional heat and the celebratory nature of the evening, our formal meeting was a brief but meaningful affair. We opened and closed the Lodge with our usual reverence and efficiency, completing our business within a swift thirty minutes. Embracing the summer spirit, we dispensed with our usual suits and ties, opting for a more comfortable attire of chinos and shirts, though our Masonic aprons remained a proud symbol of our connection.

With the formal proceedings concluded, we were thrilled to be joined by our partners. The evening's main event was a charming boat ride along the Thames. As we drifted along the gentle currents, we were treated to a fascinating commentary on the rich history and notable landmarks that grace the riverbanks. It was a wonderful opportunity to see our local area from a new perspective and share in a collective experience of discovery.

Following our scenic tour, we disembarked and made our way to the renowned Boatman pub, picturesquely situated on the banks of the Thames. There, we settled in for a delicious meal, the cheerful clinking of glasses and lively conversation filling the air. The camaraderie was palpable as partners had the chance to meet the Brethren we so often speak of, putting faces to names and strengthening the bonds of our Masonic family.

Adding to the evening's excitement was a surprise raffle. The suspense was broken with joyous applause as two of our lovely partners were delighted to win bottles of prosecco, a perfect toast to a perfect evening.

This partners' night was a resounding success, a testament to the warm and welcoming spirit of Sudlington Bridge Lodge. It was a fantastic opportunity for our partners to not only meet our Brethren but to also get a glimpse into the close-knit fellowship we all share. The evening flowed as smoothly as the river we had just traveled, filled with genuine laughter, engaging conversation, and a wonderful sense of togetherness. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended and made it such a memorable occasion.
